National Honor Society Canned Food Drive 2013
The Nazareth High School SWIFTS’ Chapter of the National Honor Society sponsored a canned food drive Nov. 1 - Nov. 15, 2013, at Nazareth School. Grades Pre-K through 12th grade participated. A total of 1,363 cans were collected for Helping Hands in Dimmitt, Texas. NHS officers Bryce Betzen, Treva Ramsey, and Lane Birkenfeld were in charge of the collecting, counting, and boxing of the cans. Mason Kleman, Hayden Gerber, and Jacob Letterman helped with the final counting and boxing of the cans. Bryce Betzen, Treva Ramsey, Mason Kleman, Amanda Kleman, and Kaden Hatla loaded up and delivered the cans to Helping Hands on November 18, 2013. Cookie cake prizes were awarded to the classes who donated the most number of cans. Those classes receiving the prizes were 5th Grade (Elementary), 6th Grade (Middle School), and 12th Grade (High School). Our goal was to collect more cans than last year’s collection of 1,343 cans and have them delivered in time for Thanksgiving and Christmas distribution.
“We wish to extend our gratitude and appreciation to all who donated cans and made this year’s canned food drive a success”, Dana Stanfield, NHS Sponsor
